Time to reflect on your last conversation:

  • What have your reflections been on your last meeting? (e.g. Did the discussion with the other person spark any new ideas or perspectives for you? Was there something you noticed about yourself?.)
  • Did you commit to doing anything after your last conversation? If so, did you do it, how did it go? If not, why not?

New theme:

As we continue exploring the topic from last time, at first, it might feel like there are some big differences within your team. Maybe you click well with some people, you go to them for advice and share friendly jokes. However, what are all the other perspectives you might be missing out on?

More often than not, we are more alike than we are different, and here is an interesting video showcasing all the things we might not know about a person. Recognizing your differences within the team, and engaging in an open dialogue will make your people feel invested in, valued, and seen. Highlighting common ground and the shared ambitions and goals you have as a team will result in unity and make everyone more effective in their job while feeling included.

And as always here are some questions to reflect on in your conversations:

  • What do you think is important to your team? Do you know? Have you asked?
  • What do you wish you could make more time for as a line manager when it comes to knowing your team?
  • What could you stop doing to make individuals in your team feel more informed, valued, trusted and connected?
  • What could you start doing to make individuals in your team feel more informed, valued, trusted and connected?
